Hotel “the Kievit” was originally a school founded in 1872, which was rebuilt to be a youth hostel. Later a part was transferred to a hotel, and recently in 2002 several dormitories were renovated and 5 double rooms with bathroom with a shower were added. It now is a simple 1 star hotel and houses several different kinds of groups. Among those groups you will find scholars, students, sportsmen, fisherman, birdwatchers, companies, families and more…! Also individuals, wanting to enjoy their rest, the beach, nightlife, nature or an active vacation, find a place here. The hotel is situated in the quiet north, surrounded by the beach (6 km), the wad (4 km), nature area the Slufter (3 km), the parachuting centre (2 km), the golf course and school (4 km), the catamaran school and the canoeing centre (6 km).

The hotel has 100 beds, spread over several dormitories from 4 to 10 persons and also several rooms for 1 to 4 people, some with shower/lavatory. The guests can choose LO (lodging and breakfast) or VP (LO plus lunch package).

The breakfast buffet is ready from 8.00 to 10.00 hours in the morning, on Sundays there’s an extra hour until 11 ‘o clock. Starting at 13.00 you can order from the small menu and dinner is served from 18.00. The hotel has a spacious dining room (+/- 100 m2), decorated in the 60’s style. Here you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner, and you will also find the bar here, including pool table and darts board. There are also possibilities for renting bicycles or a car, using the sports field, the terrace, the large video screen and the big choice of games.

To accommodate the vacationer as much as possible the hotel advises or arranges different kinds of programs, also bad weather programs are included. Among these are; tandem jumping, pleasure scenic flights, canoeing, surfing, rafting, archery, crate or wall climbing, role skiing, pole vault, carting, klootschieten, tokkelen, six-camps, mountain biking, survival trips, adventure hikes, horseback riding, beach volleyball, sports fishing, shrimp fishing, sail kotter , robben tour, swimming, bowling, cyclist routes and hiking routes, pleasure trips with horse and wagon, beach walks with a jutter, wad or dune walks with a bird watcher etc. Also visits to seal shelter Ecomare, the airfield museum, the juttersmuseum, quilt factory, sheep farm, children farm, Texels drinks vault, Texels beer brewery, cheese farm etc. Further more the hotel can provide the following on request: lunches (10,- p.p.) barbeques (22,- p.p.), Indonesian rice tables (22,- p.p.) Texel meals (28,- p.p.) and a variety of parties.
